Statement of Faith
We are a Christ centered church and teach that grace is central to our relationship with God. God has seen fit together this body of believers to exalt himself as we commit our lives to Jesus Christ – the One who’s death and resurrection gives us peace with God and the hope of heaven. You’ll find that God’s grace is the common thread that runs through everything we do at Hope Church.
1. The Bible
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21.
2. God
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – I John 5:7,8; Matthew 3:16,17; 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14
4. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate – John 1:1, Hebrews 9:24-28; I Corinthians 15:3,4.
4. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service – John 14:16; 7:26; 15:26; 16:8.
5. The Human Condition
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained – Genesis 1:27;Romans 5:12;John 1:12,13.
6. The Work of Christ
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe; and only as we receive Jesus Christ and are born of the Holy Spirit do we become children of God – John 1:12; 3:3, 16.
7. Church Ordinances
We believe the believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation – Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 2:23-26.
8. The Church
We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head – I Corinthians 12:12-14.
9. Church Membership
We believe that only those who are thus members of the true Church shall be eligible for membership in the local Church – Acts 2:47.
10. Church Government
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local Church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs – Col. 1:18.
11. The Second Coming
We believe in the personal and pre-millennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer – I Thessalonians 4:13-18.
12. Eternity Destiny
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment- I Corinthians 15:51-54; Revelation 20:11-15.
13. Marriage & the Sanctity of Live
We believe that marriage was ordained by God at creation as the sacred union of one man and one woman. All sexual relations must therefore be reserved for that union. Christian marriage is a representation of Christ’s relationship to His church and the image of God. We also believe that children are a blessing from the Lord. Thus, all human life is sacred and worthy of protection from the moment of conception – Genesis 1:26-28; 2:23-24; Psalm 127 and 128; 139:13-16; Matthew 19:1-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 7:1-9; Ephesians5:22-33; Hebrews 13:4.
